Environmental Criminal Law

The protection of the environment is an important social and political concern, which the legislator and the administration are pursuing through ever more numerous – and often unfortunately inconsistent and over-complex – regulations. Criminal law is also increasingly being used. In the event of violations of environmental regulations, companies and the persons acting on their behalf face not only administrative and liability consequences, but also serious criminal and fine sanctions.

Advice and defence in this field of law require not only knowledge of the relevant criminal law regulations, but also an understanding of the relevant administrative norms and procedures as well as of the (regularly complex) technical procedures that are specifically at issue.

Members of our firm have gained the necessary experience and knowledge in some of the largest environmental criminal proceedings in the history of German justice. In addition, we have a network of proven experts at our disposal to properly assess and process the technical and scientific basis of any allegations.
